Our guests are met at Mowat's Landing (west end of Hwy #558) at either 10am or 2pm on Saturdays. The following 15 minutes is spent crossing the Montreal River on a barge. Upon docking at the bottom of Mattawapika Dam, luggage etc. is transferred to trucks and transported around the dam (about 200 yards). A further 8 mile boat trip with several fishing areas pointed out along the way finishes the journey to the island. The transition from the pressures of the road to the peace and relaxed atmosphere of visiting a pristine northern lake shows on the faces of our guests; some of them "coming home" and a few of them discovering how comfortable the Northern World can be.
TAKE THE HIGH ROAD... WESTERN FISHING DUDES From Detroit - Hwy #401 East to Toronto area, use the new Hwy. 407 (ETR) Express Toll Route across the top of Toronto to Hwy #400 North, continue on Hwy #11 North, through city of North Bay. Make sure you go right on Hwy #11 at the top of a hill when leaving North Bay then approx. 100 miles further north to Hwy #558 West, 12 miles to Mowat's Landing. CENTRAL PLAIN FOLKS From Buffalo - Hwy #190 North to Niagara Falls, the QEW to the new Hwy. 407 (ETR) Express Toll Route (this is just after the Skyway Bridge in Burlington). Continue across the top of Toronto to Hwy #400 North, continue on Hwy #11 North, through city of North Bay. Make sure you go right on Hwy #11 at the top of a hill when leaving North Bay then approx. 100 miles further to Hwy #558 West, 12 miles to Mowat's Landing. EASTERN ANGLERS From The Thousand Islands Bridge - Hwy #401 West, to Hwy #32 North, to Hwy #15 North, to Hwy #17 North, to city of North Bay. Make sure you go right on Hwy #11 at the top of a hill when leaving North Bay follow Hwy #11 North, then approx. 100 miles further to Hwy #558 West, 12 miles to Mowat's Landing. (Ways to get there) FLY & RIDE - Limosine service from Toronto International Airport (300 miles), North Bay Airport (100 miles), Sudbury Airport (150 miles), or Earlton Airport (50 miles), can be arranged by us at reasonable cost. NOTE: Hot Air Baloon/Camel/Inner Tube travel choice combination is no longer offered by our remote transportation coordinator (most likely due to high overhead costs and the average length of travel exceeding average length of stay).
